On the morning of May 19, the 14th Youth "Future Engineers" Expo was held at the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Technology Cultural Exchange Center. More than 3,000 young engineers from more than 20 provinces (urban areas), Hong Kong and Macau gathered in Beijing to show their innovative power to the public.

At the launching ceremony, under the main melody of "My Motherland" played by Erhu, students from Hong Kong and Macau performed a flash poetry recitation together, academician Ouyang Ziyuan, chief scientist of China is lunar exploration project, and singer Chen Sisi, two ambassadors of "Science China", together with "future engineers The two ambassadors of "Science in China" and the "future engineers" sang "Singing the Motherland" together.

It has been held for 13 consecutive years to guide young people to actively participate in the practice of science and technology innovation and to cultivate a strong interest in loving, speaking, learning and using science. This year, the "Future Engineers" Expo is organized by the China Academy of Educational Sciences of the Ministry of Education, the China Science and Technology Exchange Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong STEM Education Alliance.

Mr. Liu Zhigang, the director of the Future Engineers program, said that the Future Engineers program was established to cultivate students innovation and practical skills and to reserve innovative talents for building an innovative country in China. The project emphasizes "student innovation and creative production" as the main content, and strives to combine science, technology, engineering, art, through real tasks to cultivate young people is comprehensive application of knowledge and creative problem-solving skills. This year is expo includes 11 projects, including creative flower window, creative micro-photography 1+1, love to create intelligent works, intelligent F1 car, wooden beam bearing, stone throwing car, roller coaster, water rocket, drone, thousand machine change, recycling engineering, etc., which will be displayed one by one from 19th to 25th.

According to the introduction, the Future Engineers program has been widely recognized and welcomed by the majority of primary and secondary school students, and the influence of the event has gradually expanded. Since 2018, the Hong Kong STEM Education Alliance has organized the Hong Kong region to join the "Future Engineers" Expo. This year, Macau also joined the event as a region and sent 3 teams to participate in the F1 Smart Ideas competition.

Nowadays, 3 million primary and secondary school students from more than 20 provinces (urban areas) participate in the event every year, and students from all over the country will be selected in the provincial (urban area) events and eventually participate in the national showcase. Each project requires students to flexibly apply their knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to complete the challenge, and is a comprehensive examination of students hands-on production skills, knowledge application, and teamwork abilities.
